About Suscipe

Suscipe (Su’-she-pay) is a Latin word for “receive.”  Suscipe exists to help individuals deepen their life of prayer and discernment through community, formation opportunities, and 1-on-1 coaching.

After working full-time in ministry at both the parish and diocesan levels, Eric Gallagher felt the call to pursue this work with Suscipe in August 2021.  Eric has a passion not only for teaching and leading others in the spiritual life but also bringing about community and culture when it comes to becoming aware of God’s presence in our lives and learning how to say yes to Him each and every day.

It is our hope that Suscipe blesses many people!

Some Driving Forces Behind Suscipe

  1. In his text Introduction to the Devout Life, St. Francis de Sales responds to the desires of an individual by the name of Philothea.  Philothea had encountered the love God in a powerful way and desired to become truly devoted to him.  She sought out the wisdom of St. Francis de Sales to “teach her” how to become holy.  Our hope is to meet individuals who have that same hunger and give them the tools and support needed to become holy!
  2. St. Ignatius of Loyola is also one of the greatest teachers and guides for individuals desiring to grow in their spiritual life.  His teachings and wisdom are also integrated into just about everything offered here at Suscipe.
  3. In Sirach 6:32-33 we read:

If you are willing, my son, you will be taught, and if you apply yourself you will become clever. If you love to listen you will gain knowledge, and if you incline your ear you will become wise. Stand in the assembly of the elders. Who is wise? Cleave to him.”

It is also incredibly important to us that formation never happen in a silo.  Our hope is to make formation a communal efforts, introducing individuals not only to a variety of spiritualities and teachings, but also to many “elders” in the Church who can provide a more comprehensive approach to all that the Church has to offer!

These are just a few things about us.  There is so much more we’d like to share, but we’ll encourage to get involved, meet the others involved in the various connections that Suscipe has made, and reach out if you need anything.  We look forward to getting to know you!
